Volunteers are needed to become Friendly Visitors to a senior on a one-to-one basis. Volunteers may choose to run errands, transport to stores/appointments or just visit with the senior. A two hour per week commitment is ideal, but this is flexible. Also needed are volunteers to do non-routine yard work such as raking leaves, trimming, planting flowers, or weeding. Volunteers (with small trucks) are needed for one-time commitments which would include moving items from a storage unit, taking small items to the dump or transporting other items within the Tri-Valley.

Meet new friends and be served by friendly volunteers at the Dublin Senior Center where meals are provided by Open Heart Kitchen. Reservations are encouraged but are not required except for special luncheons. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 per meal or you can purchase a Punch Card which includes 10 pre-paid meals for $30.00. Take out is available. The Shepherd's Gate, New Life Store, (Thrift Store) generates revenue to support the vital programs necessary to break the cycle of poverty, addiction, domestic violence and homelessness for women and their children. Shopping at the New Life Store gives the community the opportunity to partner with Shepherd's Gate as we transform lives. The New Life Store currently has the following opportunities at the store:
Putting pricing tags on clothing, sizing and hanging priced clothing, accepting donation (outside), researching price points for collectible items, organizing and stocking jewelry, stocking goods on sales floor, merchandising store windows and displays, data entry and file organization, sorting shoes, sorting and pricing toys, testing and pricing electronics, general maintenance, replacing tube light bulbs and ballasts, and carpet cleaning.

Legends, Senior Behavioral Health is a 14-bed acute care voluntary behavioral health program for seniors who need treatment for psychiatric illness. The program is a structured group based program for patients 65 and older but depending on the need and behavior, * we treat much younger patients as well. The program is part of ValleyCare Health System and is located at Valley Memorial, in Livermore. LEGENDS focuses on patients with depression, manic depressive illness, dementia, acute psychosis and adjustments disorders of aging. LEGENDS provides an individualized treatment program for each patient. A variety of approaches are used including group, individual and family counseling. In addition, LEGENDS provides specialities such as occupational, physical and recreational therapy. Physicians, mental health professional or family members may make referrals to the LEGENDS program by contacting the center directly. The patient, if clinically appropriate after assessment, will be admitted and followed by a psychiatrist and primary care physician for treatment.

Tri-Valley Haven, a non-profit providing shelter and counseling for sexual assault survivors, battered women and their children offer the Parents Creating Change Program, (PCC) which offers advice and support for parents, teen parents, custodial grandparents or guardians of children from the ages of 0-5. Parents can receive small amounts of diapers, wipes, baby food, new parent kits (in English & Spanish) and other items that may be in stock at the Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry. 1) Come share your work experience, expertise in resume preparation or job search skills with the students
2) Help teach students interviewing skills through mock interviews.
3) help connect your employer to provide a 3-month corporate internship
4) Devote an hour a week or every 2 weeks to encourage an at risk teen in Dublin; take him/her to lunch or an afternoon snack.

Be part of our collective Church team providing visits, fun and music for seniors who are confined to care centers: Rosewood and Quail Gardens in Livermore.
At Rosewood, a team visits the 2nd Saturday of each month to call Bingo at 2:00 PM and then provides entertainment from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Musicians are urgently needed as well as helpers for Bingo.
At Quail Gardens, a team visits each 3rd Thursday from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM.
Some talk with the seniors and others provide music. More team members are needed!
