Individuals, in need, often go to a local church for help when they are in an emergency situation.  If the church deems appropriate, they will present the individual with a letter and refer them  to the Pleasanton Police Department for a voucher. Vouchers can only be requested once a year.

Vouchers, for food, gas, and one nights lodging, is made possible through the generosity of a few Pleasanton churches.

The Police Department will run a criminal check on the individual.  The person is either accepted or denied funds.

Operating since 1977, this non-profit offers services to adults (women and men) and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness. Shelter, legal aid, and various counseling programs are available. Tri-Valley Haven also maintains a food pantry that distributes food to low-income families on a weekly basis.

Volunteer needs include crisis line counselors, legal clinic advocates, rape crisis advocates, child care workers, pantry stocking, maintenance workers, and special event help
