The Pleasanton Senior Center has several volunteer opportunities available. Positions include working as an on-call receptionists , front desk greeters, InDesign graphic artist who can assist with formatting and entering information for Senior Center's EDGE newsletter (2-3 days a month), Program Aide ( assists with games like cards, Bingo, Arts and Crafts, etc.), and Computer Tutors.
Sage Cafe (located at Pleasanton Senior Center) is currently seeking volunteers or groups to assist with light waiter/waitress and busing duties. Shifts available Monday - Friday, from 10:30AM - 1:30 PM. Other tasks include: setting up the check-in table area, logging in each diner as they arrive, collecting lunch fees, and distributing meal tickets.

The children may be developmentally disabled, or have experienced abuse, neglect or pre-natal drug exposure, or are HIV-affected. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have experience working with children and families.
Be at least 18 years old, and have a high school diploma or GED.
Have access to a motor vehicle in good working order.
Be able to obtain a criminal record clearance.
Be eligible to work in the U.S.
This is a part-time (no guarantee of hours) position which pays $10.00 - 10.50 hour (depending upon the number of children in your care). Respite is provided in the child’s home and is generally needed after-school, evenings, and weekends.

Posted: 03/23/2015Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley, (SSPTV) sponsors this interactive 7- week program as part of the Finding Wellness program. Topics include fall prevention, using and understanding medications, alcohol awareness, hydration, stress management, chronic pain and exercise.
The program, funded several times throughout the year in the Tri-Valley, would like to reach more people. If your group (minimum of 8 individuals and maximum of 25) is interested in scheduling the series, please contact the Behavioral Health Program Manager for details.

Posted: 03/06/2015Community Youth Courts, a diversion program to middle and high school teens who are first time offenders of misdemeanor or lesser crimes are entirely voluntary and address the early stages of juvenile delinquency by bringing teenage offenders before a jury of their peers. Youth volunteer positions are: court clerk, advocate, jury member, and Spanish-English translator. (This is a great way to fulfill school Community Service requirements!) Volunteers are needed to become Friendly Visitors to a senior on a one-to-one basis. Volunteers may choose to run errands, transport to stores/appointments or just visit with the senior. A two hour per week commitment is ideal, but this is flexible. Also needed are volunteers to do non-routine yard work such as raking leaves, trimming, planting flowers, or weeding. Volunteers (with small trucks) are needed for one-time commitments which would include moving items from a storage unit, taking small items to the dump or transporting other items within the Tri-Valley.

The meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from mid-September through June. Each meeting starts at 6:00pm with a free dinner at 6:15pm followed by prayer time, Bible study, crafts, and games. Special events are also scheduled throughout the year.
