Senior Support Services assists  seniors in the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, and Sunol.  Our Volunteer Wish List  includes:

Community seniors to serve on an advisory Board.
New Board Members to oversee the agency.
Volunteers to visit with seniors and assist them with errands, shopping and having fun!
Drivers to escort seniors to medical appointments.

We are also in need of the following donations:

Grocery gift cards (used in emergency situations for seniors).
Funding for community outings for seniors, craft supplies and luncheons.

Blankets for Kids an established nonprofit organization, 501(C)(3) that meets at Ridge View Commons in Pleasanton, seeks individuals to assist with time to create soft, cuddly blankets that are distributed to local police departments and social service agencies for neglected, abused and at-risk children.

The all-volunteer organization relies on donations to purchase fleece for the blankets.

The women’s prison is in need of GED tutors to meet once or twice a week to help with Language, Reading, Social Studies, Math and Science.  They are also looking for a choir director/musicians to assist with instrument training and help create a  music program.  Volunteers are required to attend training and undergo a background check.

As of November 1, if the weather forecast is for greater than a 20% chance of rain or the temperature is 45 degrees or less, the Refuge will be open for homeless guests to spend the night (if there are enough volunteers to staff the site). You can help make sure the Refuge is open!

Volunteers will be needed for varying shifts, 6:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age. Complete the volunteer information form at www.livermorehomelessrefuge.org.

This home meal delivery program provides daily nutritious meals to homebound seniors which helps improve the quality of lives and allows
seniors to remain independent in their homes. Volunteers are always invited to join the team that delivers meals.

OHK is in need of volunteers at following venues:

PLEASANTON SENIOR CENTER has two volunteer shifts available:10:30 AM - 1:30 PM and 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM - Monday through Friday. We are especially in need of volunteers on Tuesdays, and Thursdays at this site: 5353 Sunol Blvd., Pleasanton.

DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER has a volunteer shift available at the 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM - Monday through Friday. We are especially in need of volunteers on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at this site: 7606 Amador Valley Blvd., Dublin.

Volunteers need to wear closed toe  shoes, long shorts or pants, and short or long sleeved shirts. We are now requiring all volunteers to wear some sort of head covering. It can be a hat, a scarf, a bandana, or a hair net. If you arrive at a site without a head covering, one will be provided for you.  If you are volunteering for the first time, please make sure that you print off and sign the Volunteer Agreeement form below.

Age Restrictions - Some of our activities have age restrictions and are noted.  All volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Volunteers between 10 and 13 years old must have a parent or guardian, volunteer during the same shift with them. The parent or guardian must also be a registered volunteer.  Volunteers who are at least 14 can volunteer on their own with out a parent or guardian.

Register online now! Runners and walkers of all experience levels are welcome. (So are dogs!)  The race will start and finish at 3663 Pacific Ave., with event parking available in adjacent lots and at the corner of South Livermore and Pacific Ave.  The 10K begins at 8 am, and the 5K  at 8:05 am followed by the walkers.  Post Race Awards and Raffle ( must be present to win!)  at 9:30.  This event will take place rain or shine! Sign up for our upcoming Tri-Valley Volunteer Training to become a crisis line volunteer, sexual assault advocate or legal clinic volunteer!  This 65 hour training course.  Classes will be held bi-weekley.  Applicants must be at least 21 years old and be able to commit to 1 year of volunteering.  Applicants must register for the training in advance.  Space is limited.
