Women with a compassionate heart are needed to take calls one day a week from their homes to screen potential residents for Shepherd’s Gate and give information on community resources. Training will be provided.

Volunteer drivers needed for the Meals-on-Wheels program with pick up of meals at Pleasanton Senior Center or Robert Livermore Community Center, Livermore. A commitment of at least 2 hrs. every other week is requested. Routes (with 10-12 deliveries) are usually 2 hours or less and new volunteers will receive training on meal program and safety checks. Also, servers are needed for the senior lunch program at the Robert Livermore Community Center.

Tri-Valley families and individuals may select one bag of items per visit. The Hanger is staffed by students with disabilities in a vocational skills classroom. Special needs high school students are taught job skills while providing clothing to Pleasanton families in need. Tax deductible donations can be dropped off at the Pleasanton School District’s special education office - 4661 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton. Donations of clean and gently used adult and children’s clothing, warm coats and jackets, new socks and new underwear, shoes, umbrellas and rain gear, laundry supplies are appreciated.

There is an urgent need for teen and adult volunteers at the food pantry to help with bagging food and working at the counter as well as the thrift store where opportunities include sorting and stocking donations, helping customers and working at the cash register! Operating since 1977, this non-profit offers services to adults (women and men) and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness. Shelter, legal aid, and various counseling programs are available. Tri-Valley Haven also maintains a food pantry that distributes food to low-income families on a weekly basis.
Volunteer needs include crisis line counselors, legal clinic advocates, rape crisis advocates, child care workers, pantry stocking, maintenance workers, and special event help

Partner with Dublin’s Continuation High School in this program to prepare seniors for success in professional careers and higher education. Ways you can help:
1) Come share your work experience, expertise in resume preparation or job search skills with the students
2) Help teach students interviewing skills through mock interviews.
3) help connect your employer to provide a 3-month corporate internship
4) Devote an hour a week or every 2 weeks to encourage an at risk teen in Dublin; take him/her to lunch or an afternoon snack.
