Homeless and Caring Court

This free program allows clients who are motivated and actively working to end their homelessness to pursue dismissal of outstanding non-violent infractions and misdemeanor legal offenses without jail time or fines.  Clients who can prove both financial need and personal life progress, such as housing, income, job/search, substance abuse classes, parenting classes, volunteering, etc. are eligible

Tickets, fines or fee can be related to infractions, citations and non-violent misdemeanor offenses.  These can include moving violations, petty theft, BART evasion, littering, open container, possession, etc.  If charges are related to substance use, verification of services and progress must include treatment.  This can be in the form of 30 NA/AA Meetings or a substance abuse program.

Clients who have tickets outside of Alameda County are ineligible.  Ineligibility includes: Tickets, fines or fee related to felonies, sex crimes, violent crimes/concealed weapons, DUI's, parking tickets, restitution to individuals or businesses, or drug court. Clients who have tickets outside of Alameda County are also ineligible. If you have fees resulting from a suspended license, call G.R.I.P. at (510)233-2141.
